Opus One Solutions is a smart grid software engineering and solutions company delivering real time, model-based grid management to integrate distributed generation, energy storage and demand solutions into the existing grid.
Using intelligent power engineering algorithms for online analytics, Opus One's GridOS® smart grid operating system provides an unmatched degree of situational awareness, supervisory control, and system optimization. The result is improved grid reliability, power quality, utilization and efficiency, and unlocked potential for 100% clean energy. Opus One's GridOS® is well positioned to become a distributed system platform (DSP) for utility business model transformations.
Founded in Toronto, Opus One saw a strong market pull created by New York’s Reforming the Energy Vision (REV). They sought the support of ACRE to provide accelerated access to key stakeholders in the utilities, regulatory agencies, and funders. An introduction by ACRE to Energy Impact Partners led to Opus One’s first external, significant investment. Opus One has successfully hired a New York based employee, and engaged key advisors and strong potential strategic investors. Since joining the incubator, Opus One has added to its grid management solutions, such as microgrid monitoring, control and optimization to utilities, by partnering with Advanced MicroGrid Solutions to add advanced energy storage systems in buildings to lower energy costs for consumers. ACRE introductions to utilities helped them to win an industry changing REV demo.
In addition, the ACRE team proposed Opus One for a 2016 Greentech Grid Edge Award, which they subsequently won. Opus One has also recently been recognized as one of the 10 Best Smart Grid Solution Providers of 2016 by Energy CIO Insights. They have recently won a $16.4M Transactive Energy contract with Smarter Grid Solutions, another ACRE company.
